What is a coming soon page A coming soon page is a type of placeholder web page that is intended to warn visitors that a website or a particular webpage is in the process of being constructed or is not yet available to the public. These pages are typically labeled with the phrase "coming soon." It is typically seen when the owner of a website is getting ready to launch a new website or is in the process of updating an existing one. Coming soon pages are designed to do two things: generate excitement and anticipation for a future website, and offer users a way to keep updated about the website's launch date and any other information that may be pertinent. A typical "coming soon" page will typically feature a brief explanation of the upcoming website, a countdown timer, a sign-up form for a newsletter or updates, and perhaps a teaser image or video. All of these elements are standard. Coming soon page template free: dp FREE to download Coming Soon Page We at dp have developed our template in HTML / CSS / JavaScript and use it regardless of whether the site we are working on is done with WordPress , Elementor, another page builder or whether it is a site for Shopify, SquareSpace and so on. We chose to make a "flat file" in html and upload it directly to the server via FTP or via the Control Panel file manager provided by all Hosting Providers. This choice turned out to be absolutely productive as once the template is designed it is the same one we use for all sites and it is uploaded to the client's new server in less than thirty seconds. Let's see together what the advantages of this type of template are. Flat file convenience By flat file we mean that it has no dependencies. Exactly what is needed for fast and concise work. Normally you should load a directory with the name of the template and inside it load a folder with images, one with JavaScript files, one with CSS files and so on. Then in the main root you should have an html file (coming-soon.html) which refers to the various folders and files for styling and for the functionality offered by the JavaScript. In our case instead, we have included the styling and all the functions of JavaScript already in the document that we have named "index.html", so that the server gives it absolute priority. As for the images, we have uploaded to a directory on our server so that wherever this single html document is uploaded (any server), it will work fully without precisely having to "depend" on other documents and images. In this way, as soon as we start working on a site for a new client, all we have to do is upload the coming soon index.html file to the client's server root directory while we work in the staging server on in the localhost of our system creating the site in WordPress or any other type of technology. Upload your coming soon page to your server There are several ways to upload your "coming soon" HTML file to your website, depending on your hosting platform and website setup. Here are a few common methods: FTP or SFTP: [SUGGESTED] If you have access to your website's file system, you can use a FTP or SFTP client to upload the HTML file to your website. You'll need to know the login credentials for your hosting account and the location of the directory where you want to store your HTML file. (below is an example upload using the FileZilla free FTP software available for Windows, Mac and Linux) [caption id="attachment_4930" align="alignnone" width="300"] Click to enlarge[/caption] cPanel File Manager: [MOST CONVENIENT] Many web hosting companies use cPanel as a control panel for managing website files. You can use the File Manager in cPanel to upload the HTML file to your website. [caption id="attachment_4931" align="alignnone" width="300"] Click to enlarge[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4932" align="alignnone" width="300"] Click to enlarge[/caption] WordPress Dashboard: [NOT THE MOST SECURE] If your website is built with WordPress, you can upload the HTML file directly from the WordPress Dashboard. You'll need to use a plugin like File Manager or have access to the server to do this. Once you've uploaded the HTML file, you'll need to set it as the default page for your website. You can do this by changing the default page setting in your web server configuration, or by creating a redirect in your .htaccess file. Note to begginners: It's important to note that the exact steps for uploading the HTML file may vary depending on your hosting platform and setup. If you're not familiar with website hosting and administration, it may be best to seek the assistance of a web designer/developer or your hosting company's support team.
