I am writing this article in commemoration of my Bluetooth headset that just died after 5 years of incredible loyal service.
I had purchased the Moor Bluetooth headset on eBay if I recall right. The price was around 30 GBP. The great thing about this headphones is that at the time of purchase, (2010), there was still a bit of skepticism over Bluetooth stereo headphones and a part for big brands such as Sennheiser and Sony which were incredibly priced there was no much else to shop around, especially at this range of very affordable price.
Trusting a few good reviews I then made my purchase and waited for the postman to ring my bell.
When I finally got thee package delivered I was a bit disappointed to see that it did come in a cheap clear plastic box but this was just a first impression, soon I was going to change that completely.
After charging the device for as many hours as per instructions on the user manual, I tried the headset and was immediately amazed by the quality of the audio and how loud they could actually be.
I have used this pair of headset on a daily basis ever since. My commuting at and from work was a pleasure, I loved the ease of folding them back and how light this headset was.
This are the specs:
Bluetooth specification: Bluetooth V2.1+ EDR
Frequency response: 2.40GHz – 2.480GHz
Support profiles: HSP, HFP, AVRCP, A2DP
Function range: Up to 10 metres
Operation time: Handsfree 9-10 hours
Music playback: Up to 5 hours
Standby time: Up to 120 Hours
Talk time: Up to 6 hours
In five years of use I have obviously found both good and bad aspects of using the Moor headset and here is a quick list:
GOOD
- Lightweight
- Foldable
- Great Stereo Audio
- Very affordable price
- Sturdy and shockproof, (dropped many times)
BAD
- Microphone is not so clear when used to take calls on mobile
- Battery takes more than 4 hours to charge, (tried with fast charger but no better results)
- Tend to slide down, don’t seem to stay firmly, (this could be because of my head shape and the fact that I don’t have hair to help on keeping them firm).
For the rest I was very surprised and could not even think they would last me so long, especially considering recharging them almost every day.
Final Score 8.5/10
