I have just noticed that Notepad++ since yesterday has stopped recognizing web documents as per their language markup , instead is launching anything as a text document.
This is quite annoying as every time I load a new file, wheter this is php or html, js, css and so on the associated markup is not loading so I have to manually scroll on the languages from the top menu and select whichever I want for that file.
Imagine how many time I have already done it today before I said….STOP..!
So I went from the –>setting menu–>style configuration but everything seemed to be in order.
I was perplexed, I don’t remember messing with it and last time I have updated it was a month ago..or so….I could not understand the reason for the misbehaver.
Then I decided to use the plan “B”. A more “Do It Yourself” approach..!
I browsed the Application data, (%APPDATA%Notepad++) and found several XLM files. As a precaution I have backed up all of them then deleted the one I guessed was holding the styling data, (“stylers.xml“).
Then restarted Notepad++…and….bingo..! All files now load as normal…a 2 minutes job that had to be done.
Please remember to backup anything you delete, just in case you delete the wrong file.
Good luck.
