Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance

Stop… Do not Panic..!

Most probably you were just upgrading a plugin and …bang..! All in one sudden your website went offline.

Remain calm as this is a common issue and thankfully there is a quick remedy.

This tutorial will require you to have FTP login and password at your hosting account.

DISCLAIMER:
This tweak are intended for people that is accustomed on dealing with FTP software, deleting, editing files and have an understanding of how important it is to always BACKUP data prior to alter or delete it.

Having said that, let’s go to the meat and potatoes of today WordPress good hacking.

Hack #1 – remove .maintenance file from your root directory

-Editing required on main root directory:  .maintenance
-Time required: (between 1 and 5 minutes)

Fire your Filezilla or any other FTP program of your choice and login with your credentials. Once logged in and pointed into your Public HTML or WWW or whatever your hosting calls your main root directory look for a file called .maintenance

If you, like me, are super careful, skeptical, paranoid, obsessive compulsive disordered and so on, make a backup of the file .maintenance before deleting. If you are not as described….just delete the file..!

Bingo…

Now refresh your browser on your backend and / or on your frontend and it should be live again. Your Plugin should now update just fine.

That’s it for today, until next time, keep cool and do some good positive hacking on WordPress.
