Start your video with an intro

In this very short article I would like to answer some people who asked me the question “Why must my YouTube video have an Intro and an Outro?”

So let’s start by saying that it is absolutely not a necessity but more than anything else an additional function which in my opinion makes a video more professional and which helps to reinforce the image of the product or company it represents.

Imagine going to the cinema or maybe (perhaps no many people goes to cinemas these days) to relax on the sofa with a good drink, a nice plate of nachos and a Netflix movie. Well, leaving aside the drinks and the nachhos:) … the first thing you will notice when the film starts, or rather for the accuracy, before the start of the film, is that there will be a series of animations depicting a series of logos in the end. Some of this might be new to you and some very well know, regardless, they are all there to launch a very specific message…that would be in short: who is the production of the film.

This small introduction that happens even before the opening titles and the initials that contain them, is nothing more than a way to promote a film house or the production for films. Now you will wonder … but what on hearth do I have to do with them? I am a small spare parts shop for cars or a boat rental on the lake….a barber…..a pet groomer….you name it!

Well, my answer doesn’t change. Even you who are not film producers are still respectable companies and therefore it is right to send an instant message to say clearly who you are before the video even begins. Then you can proceed to perhaps showcase a new service or a new product to be launched.

This way the image of your establishment will be well imprinted in the customer mind.

At this point there are those who tell me: but can’t you just put the logo?

Of course, I answer, we can certainly do it, but this does not mean that it will have the same effectiveness of that generated by a nice video with an animation as an intro … because, let’s face it, … we are no longer in the nineties, the web has changed from static to dynamic…so let’s all also be dynamic..shall we?
A video done well, with a good intro and outro (outro is the same as the intro but gives the final message) is almost always certainly more appealing than one without. A potential buyer or customer may consider that you have put more passion, spent more time, more attention in the details when comparing to what seen from your competitor who has not done it at all.. and this could make him/her think that if this is your way of working, you might as well do it in everything you do. and for everyone … so in a nutshell … this would already give you an advantage compared to another company that is not keeping up with the times and that does not see what is happening today and, therefore, may not be a good choice.

So, let’s recap. The video intro is not a necessity but an addition that helps your potential customer in their choice. You give an extra demonstration to your customers that you are professionals in what you do.

Let’s say it makes the difference … a bit like the distinction between a tailor’s shop that has nice neat, clean, maybe even minimalist showcase, with well-dressed models of dresses, jackets, pants and shirts both in colors and in fabrics or cuts and the type … or a general store where the stuff has been put a little here and a bit there and where there is no logical thread to follow … do you think the person who has to buy a dress for a wedding or who knows what other special occasion, will choose them or go back to the clean and neat tailor shop where he or she can actually buy at a similar price in a neat and professional environment?

Well and with this I finished the point of the situation. As I mentioned it is something that I have been asked a few times and I thought it was time to give a more detailed explanation.

See you soon
