Introduction to keyboards first
The Keyboard represents, with the mouse, the main input device used to type data and send commands directly to the computer.
This accessory is available in numerous models that differ mainly in the layout of the keys and in some of their functions. The most common keyboards for Personal Computers are called “QWERTY”, a name that derives from the sequence of the first six letters placed on the first line of alphabetic characters at the top left.
The QWERTY configuration, which had been designed above all to avoid, or to reduce to the minimum the mechanical problems due to the hammering of the hammers in the typewriters, is still used today because, even if there is no longer the mechanical problem, it allows to effectively balance the alternativeness of the fingers of the writer’s hands. Besides this, the well-established habit of using the layout QWERTY represents a “de facto” standard that is difficult to modify.
Use of Shortcuts
Shortcuts, also called accelerator keys or hot keys, can represent a convenient alternative to using the mouse for interactivity with the graphical interface of the Operating Systems and Softwares. This set of combination keys allow to perform many of the more frequent operations in a timely manner, among these: open and close elements, perform movements in the menu, in the Desktop, in the Windows, in the Web pages, etc.
In my case, as I am using WordPress which is a software that runs on a web browser, I am not going to focus on specific OS intended shortcuts but only focus on those created by the developers at Elementor which is the WordPress Page Builder of my choice.
Below is a chart to the Hot Keys for Elementor, you can use them in combination to the already useful shortcuts for WordPress, see this past blog posts for a reference of which one are the most useful hot keys on WordPress.
